Coral Persistence

This ongoing project investigates the mechanistic basis of MC10's long-term colonisation and its efficacy under future climate scenarios. Using fluorescent protein (FYP)-tagged mutant strains, we are tracking probiotic localisation within coral tissues at the cellular level following a single inoculation. Concurrently, we are testing MC10's protective effects under projected thermal stress conditions (+3°C above ambient, consistent with IPCC worst-case scenarios), providing critical data on probiotic performance under the extreme temperatures corals will face in the coming decades.
