Coral Restoration

This project applies our persistent probiotics to a real-world coral restoration site in Gili Asahan, Indonesia, in partnership with SeaChange Indonesia. Following the ongoing isolation and characterization of locally sourced next-generation probiotic strains, we will inoculate coral fragments in nursery before outplanting to the reef. The project monitors coral growth, survival, and bleaching severity over multiple heat stress events, demonstrating that probiotic treatment can be integrated into existing restoration workflows as a scalable, nature-based solution for reef conservation in low- and middle-income countries.
